Baldassarre Monge
Baldassarre Giacomo Monge was born in 1934, the second of three children. His father, Domenico, had started a poultry business with two golden rules. First of all, optimize costs without spending more than necessary. Secondly, waste nothing – everything must be reworked.
A few years later, and with these principles in mind, Baldassarre would recognize how to turn his family’s experience into a new conception of pet food.
It is a period of great change in Italy and houses throughout the country are welcoming
He introduces a revolutionary
: easy opening.
And doing so, becomes the first Italian company to use this innovation.
Monge introduces cat pâté in 100g trays in the Italian market for the first time.
It is a food product and serving format that immediately meets with great success
Monge continues to set records as it optimises production.
Chunkies are oven baked for the first time. Previously, ovens have only been used in the confectionery industry.
2020 - Inauguration of the new logistics and distribution centre.
Installation of an automated warehouse with 43,000-pallet capacity.
2013 - Exceeding expectations
The new dry food production plant opens in 2013. It boasts an annual dry food production capacity of more than 127,000 tonnes, an automated warehouse catering to 43,000 pallet places, a total area of 180,000 square metres and a total annual dry and wet food production capacity of 160,000 tonnes.
2008 - Producing
The production of 100g pouches for cats starts up in 2008. It is the first, and only, production line of its kind in Southern Europe.
2022 - Laying the foundations for the future
Growth continues as the company invests in technology, research and quality, seeks out foreign markets and launches new products.
A continuous challenge that sees the new generations of the family involved, and skilled professionals called upon, by Baldassarre Monge to exercise passion and engagement and make their contribution.
2005 - Innovating
The year is 2005 and Monge opens the most modern wet food production plant in Europe, with an annual capacity of more than 213 million cans and 110 million trays.
2007 - Optimising
In 2008, Monge starts producing empty cans in-house in rolled steel. An innovation that cuts logistics costs and reduces emissions.
